I’m proud to share the biggest highlights of my 2019 with you! Two music videos for singles from MANONO’s Liquid Society album.
Roo Roo is an emotive song about a close friend that disappeared as a teenager. The music follows the pain of the unknown, the longing for answers, and the emptiness left by the loss. The melodic bass tapping technique and the spaciousness provided by the guitar and drums, are especially suitable for this tale, that finishes with a police report read in Slovenian.
The band’s first music video, 'High Voltage was written by looking at the distinct cultural and musical backgrounds of the band members, which met at Berlin’s cosmopolitan music scene. The energetic flow of the song is supported by the use of unconventional music instruments in western rock music, such as the qanun and didgeridoo, as well as yodeling. On the contrary, the lyrics express different rejection tales of “the other”. The opposite poles are bridged by the electrifying soundscape of the track and the cinematic tale of the music video.
